Currently working towards MA Reading Education at Rowan University

I am extremely excited to be beginning my third year at Pitman Middle School as a teacher of English Language Arts! In past years I have taught seventh grade as well.

On the first day of every week, students will be given a homework assignment, which is to be completed by the final day of the school week. Homework is due when students walk in the door. If homework is not properly completed by the due date, students will need to attend a Working Lunch to do so. Partial credit will be given to homework which is turned in late.

Sometimes, students will have homework that must be done on the computer. Students will be able to work during lunch with Miss Cooper, before school at Homework Club from 7:30-8:10 (days will be given out via the morning school announcements), or after school with Miss Cooper, Mrs. Smythe, or Mrs. Staman. Students should see one of their ELA teachers with questions.

Reading every day at or slightly above reading level is crucial for developing vocabulary, spelling skills, critical-thinking skills, and writing skills. Five times a week, students should read for at least 20 minutes at home. This will not always be a formal homework assignment, but it is strongly encouraged.

Grading Scale
